Riverview Hospital randomly selects patients to receive a patient satisfaction survey. The survey allows patients to rate their entire experience with Riverview Hospital and to provide their comments. 2010 National Excellence in Healthcare Awards
In March 2010, Riverview Hospital received earned a 4 Star Award for Emergency Services. The Excellence in Healthcare Awards recognize healthcare organizations that have exhibited excellence throughout the prior year. 4 Star Awards recognize healthcare service lines that receive patient satisfaction scores in the top 25 percent nationally. The score is based on the percentage of patients who rate our facility "excellent" in reference to the overall quality of care received.
PRC Gold Achievement Award
In 2010, Riverview Hospital earned a PRC Gold Achievement Award for Radiology Services. This award is based on entries submitted by hospitals and other health care facilities across the nation. The achievement awards recognize organizations which have enhanced their patients’ perception of care by focusing on “key drivers of excellence.”
Riverview Hospital received a 5-Star rating - and the highest markes in the metro-Indianapolis area - for emergency treatment of heart attacks. The study was conducted by Gannett News Service and published in the Indianapolis Star on September 28, 2006. Riverview also received a 5-Star designation in the treatment of heart failure patients. The American Osteopathic Association's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) has been providing medical facilities with an objective review of their services since 1945. The program, which has also been accrediting healthcare facilities for over 30 years under Medicare, is recognized nationally by the federal government, state governments, insurance carriers and managed care organizations.
Accrediation by HFAP ensures that a hospital is in compliance with national patient safety goals and quality indicators.
Hospital Compare Scorecards provides individuals with information on how well the hospitals in their area care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. This information helps individuals compare the quality of care hospitals provide. Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and organizations that represent hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, other Federal agencies and the public. Riverview Hospital provides Scorecard information — gathered through a third party — to CMS.
